Texture in art is how something feels or looks like it would feel if you touched it, such as rough, smooth, soft, or bumpy.

What is Texture?

**Texture** is how something feels when you touch it, or how it looks like it would feel. Is it rough like sandpaper, smooth like glass, soft like a blanket, or bumpy like a rock? Artists use texture to make their art more interesting!

Examples:

  • The artist used thick paint to give the painting a rough **texture**.
  • I love the smooth **texture** of polished stone.
  • This fabric has a soft, fuzzy **texture**.
