Understanding Consumer

Economics Grades 1-2

What is a Consumer?

A consumer is a person who buys and uses goods and services. If you buy a toy, you are a consumer! If you get a haircut, you are a consumer of a service!

Everyone is a consumer because we all buy things and use services every day, like food, clothes, or going to the doctor.

Consumer in Action!

When you eat breakfast, you are consuming food (a good). When you ride the bus to school, you are consuming a transportation service.

Producers make things, and consumers buy and use them. We all play both roles sometimes!
