What is a Consumer?

A consumer is a person who buys and uses goods and services. We are all consumers when we purchase food, clothes, toys, or pay for things like haircuts or bus rides.

Examples of a Consumer:

  • When you buy a new book, you are a consumer of that book.
  • Someone who gets their hair cut is a consumer of a salon service.
  • A family buying groceries at the supermarket are consumers of food.
